E4 part 1: Chill...

”Chill…”

Chloe looked down as she heard Myra’s quiet mumbling. She couldn’t remember how many times she had heard Myra repeat those words during the last few days. Again, Myra was sobbing in her sleep.

After they had returned from the Snowy Village, Myra had had to stay down to recover from the injuries Shiv had given her. Now she was almost healed, but she still hadn’t left the house. Even though her injuries were no more, her spirits stayed down.

After all, Chill hadn’t returned with them.

Who would have guessed that when Myra was getting treatment for her wounds, Chill’s little sister would be on the bed next to her? That their first mission with Chill would also be their last?

Did all of Shiv’s kind do nothing but cause pain for Pokemon around them?

Chloe blinked as she felt her eyes go watery. No. Why was she being so selfish that she only thought of her past misfortunes in this situation? She was fine. It was Myra who wasn’t used to this. That sometimes Pokemon close to her got hurt. And there could be a lot of ways in getting hurt.

“Do you think it’s my fault?”

Chloe was startled from her thoughts when she heard Myra speak. How long has she been awake? And why would she think…

“Maybe Shiv wanted to get revenge because I paralyzed him? If I had just been strong enough to attack more than once, maybe he would’ve stayed down”, Myra sniffled.

Chloe was shocked. How could Myra see it like that? If anyone, it would be herself who was at fault. Chloe had let her old fears control her. She had done nothing at all during the fight. “Of… of course it’s not your… fault”, Chloe said awkwardly. Why was it so difficult to find the right words to cheer Myra up? She had managed to say her thoughts aloud on their first mission. Why was it so hard now, when it was needed even more?

A long silence fell after Chloe’s words. Chloe was getting desperate to find something to say. Myra had to cheer up. Please. She couldn’t let her to give up. She didn’t want to lose her too. Chloe swallowed and put a gentle smile on her face. Like she was sure everything would be okay.

“Hey, let’s go to the Tao Village tomorrow”, Chloe said cheerfully.

Myra looked up. “Uh, sure. The new missions aren’t up yet, are they?”

“No”, Chloe said, “but I’ve heard that they have some kind of big event coming up soon. Let’s go see what it is!”

As Myra nodded, Chloe felt relieved. They both needed something else to think of for a while.

As you can see, I'm doing the event with a few pictures and written text. So far, I actually like it this way. It gives me a chanse to develop my characters while still doing art and having more time for other things in my life. But don't worry, I'll always do comics when I have the chanse!

I have been wanting to practise more with the combination of watercolors and colored pencils, so this gave me good chanse for that. I was afraid on how I could do the lighting in this picture, but PK's wonderful coloring tutorial ( [link] ) helped me on that.

I don't want to make the text too long since I know people are lazy to read them (myself included), which is why I'm keeping the story relatively simple for this event. I still wanted to express Chloe's character more in here. She hasn't been doing all that much yet, but I'll try to improve that in the future! At least this story is from her perspective for now. :3

Also, forgive me if there's something weird about the writing. I haven't been writing anything besides scientific essays for a few years, and even less in English. ^^
